can get you charged with a felony... This is basically what is explained here . In their school the kids were given a laptop for their studies (they couldn't refuse taking it or return it, some tryed). The admin password happened to be written on the back of the laptops, the kids used it to gain access to the computers and do all sorts of things that were originaly blocked on the laptops, like chatting together, watching porn, etc...
As a deterrent the administration did put 13 of them to trial (while a hundred or so used the pass). Hopefully with all the bad advertising around this the charged were dropped and they had to do some community service. Did they even think of punishing the admins for being incompetent and the persons that took those decisions for being stupid ? No...

In the States, stupidity is not a crime anymore but a right (and a duty when you represent more than a few peoples).

Izard: Je faisais reference au livre "Le grand Bond en arriere", que j'ai achete en France apres en avoir lu le resume chez toi. Le livre est un peu decevant parce que trop centre sur l'amerique (pour la preiee moitit en tout cas), un peu trop "techno-politique" a mon gout,
et je ne comprend pas tout les arguments.
Mais on trouve quelque perles parmi les remarques, notemment le fait que Bush junior mette souvent en avant le fait qu'il soit un americain "comme les autres", et se vante d'ignorer les faits que les americains moyens ignorent...
Que je sache, on n'en est pas encore arrive a ce point en France!

I think you're totally wrong; these kids are real criminals that need punishment. Everybody knows that it is normal to have admin passwords on the back of a laptop and using them is totally unethical of the kids. They need to be taught how to behave and fefe you should be ashamed of yourself for calling the prosecuting people stupid! (By the way I went through your blog, it looks very nice :), no paella pictures tough, I'll send you one)
