Above the town of Volonne, the river Durance in the background.
We spent one day in the Verdon gorges and even though the landscapes were spectacular, the resulting pictures weren't that great so you won't get to see them here. While there we also visited the little town of Rougon. It was quite a nice drive around on little windy roads.
We went alltogether to visit the old town of Sisteron, which is guarding a spectacular narrow pass of the Durance.
The city is overlooked by a monumental Vauban fortress which used to guard the border between Provence and France.
This was a nice week with family where we enjoyed the time together walking around and chatting, which doesn't happen too often. We then headed south towards the Mediterranean coast as G had an airplane to catch in Marseille the next day. We enjoyed a quick sight of the Montagne Sainte Victoire on our way to Cassis for a small boat tour of the Calanques.
